Philippe F. Gautreau of Pré-d'en-Haut died in Hotel Dieu Hospital early Wednesday morning where he had been admitted as a patient several days ago. News of his death will be learned with deep regret by his many friends.
Mr. Gautreau was born at Pré-d’en-Haut 86 years ago, the son of the late Fred and Martha (Comeau) Gautreau, and in recent years he had resided with his daughter, Mrs. Ovila LeBlanc, at Pré-d'en-Haut.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. LeBlanc, with whom he resided; Mrs. A. S. Veniot of Bathurst, and Miss Dorilla Gautreau of this city. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Azade Landry of Bathurst, and three brothers, Anselme of Pré-d’en-Haut, and Joseph and Calixte of Partageville, N. Y.
The funeral of Philippe F. Gautreau of Pré-d'en-Haut, one of the community's oldest and most highly respected residents whose death occurred Wednesday morning, June 13th, was held Friday morning at nine o'clock in St. Thomas Church, St. Joseph. Requiem high mass was sung by Rev. Father Massé, C.S.C., parish priest of Pré-d’en-Haut, assisted by Rev. Father Racine, C.S.C., as deacon and Rev. Father Boivin, C.S.C., as sub-deacon.
The pall-bearers were: Exias, Henri and Léonide Gautreau, nephews, Gilbert Surette, Laurie Gautreau and Denis Gautreau. Interment was in the parish cemetery with Rev. Father Massé reciting the prayers at the graveside.
